Notable and Otherwise

"I hate you Amanda, I'm never being Tim McGraw again"
- a boy named Dean

"Just the fact that Patrick Swayze was in it, made it a good movie."
- Sarah

"I am unfamiliar with this symbol."
"I know you are."
- exchange between Mr. Malley and Aaron, who asked about the paragraph symbol moments after receiving a two page one paragraph essay back.

Mr. Malley - "You saw Sherlock Holmes? How was it."
Wes - "It was good. If you're the kind of guy who can sit through a movie with a lot of talking, you'd like it."

"Mr. Malley...what do you do? You just seem to be sarcastic and walk around and see if people need stuff."
- Rome

Basically this video was all about how we need to make changes in our education. Something that struck me as highly intriguing was the fact that the government spends $390,000 to send one person to iraq for one year, as opposed to a student's yearly education standing at a mere $7,000-$20,00. It's really scary that our education isn't taken more seriously.
- Autumn

"Challenge the monotony folks."
- Brandon

"One thing that i have learned from by watching other documentaries is just to keep playing around with it. By this I mean that i've seen some really cool effects and shots, and all it takes is some exploration of either final cut or using the camera to get shots that aren't boring or just "shots" and it allows the movie to be good."
- James

"I am very wordstruck."
- Julius "Alleges to be THE Man" Groomes

"I love how he said his voiceover. It was really sarcasticky."
- Sarah

"It's a photoshop baby. Don't even worry about it. It's not real."
- James

"I feel like your voice was part of your music."
- Hannah

"If it wasn't Black and white it wouldn't be as intense or Grrrr in your face."
- Amanda (complete with bear claw mannerism)

"Two different shots for the same moment adds creatism"
- John

"It's as serious as black and white."
- Chris

"I was going to do a time lapse sunset. But, obviously we have no sun."
- April

"Bringing different angles into the mix makes a movie unboring."
- James

Music blares. "John, I told you to bring in headphones." - Mr. Malley
"I know, I just took them off so I could hear something in my movie." - John

"Hitler had a mother."
- CJ, explaining...umm...something.

"I would use puppets or something because it's hard to find an old person."
"Do you have an old person Mr. Malley?"
- Sara & Hannah

"Like those two little devils on your shoulder?"
- Chris

Life in a Day

Hey folks. I don't know how many of you would feel compelled to check back, but if you do, I wanted to let you know about a filmmaking opportunity. Famed director Ridley Scott is celebrating a "Life in a Day" film project asking people from all around the world to grab a camera, shoot something personal, and submit it to a channel on Youtube. Then, he and another director are going to stitch the film together into a documentary that hopefully… Continue

Ya know, I drafted this and wasnt going to turn it in cause it didnt matter, but someone showed me otherwise. . .

Boy oh Boy the things I've learned from this class. Where do I start? Well I guess I'll first say that you Mr. Malley have officially taken the spot of my favorite teacher ever. You've replaced my 3rd grade teacher Ms. Romes who used to always hug me and give me candy. She called me "hun" alot too, which made me comfortable and love going to school. And even though you lack the first three qualities, you kept the third for a different set of…

To Mr. Malley.

School's over and so therefore Mass Media is too. Great, now I really have nothing to do -_- I'm glad that we ended everything with a final film festival. And thank the Lord me and Leanna finished our video on time. Second time it happened Malley. Pretty great I know. We combined ideas and did the best we could. I truly feel like I put my all into this and it turned out great! This class really gave me something to look forward to in college. I want to win many more film festivals, have my… Continue

its been a roller-coaster, and i hate roller-coasters

I would like to start out by saying that this was not my first choice for a senior english class this year, But I am absolutely happy I did. I got to learn some pretty cool things about making films and I will never look at movies the same way again. I also got to make some pretty cool videos with my friends for this class. The one thing i did not like about this class was the blog posts.
To clear things up its not that I don't like the idea of writing something about myself, but the fact…

*last post of the year.

this class year has had it's negatives and positives. when the year first started off, everything was going good because we were working on the group projects. honestly, everything seemed so easy then but thats just when reality kicked it. i realized that when you started doing your projects on your own that it wasn't so easy to stay focus on what you were suppose to be doing. i actually realized that i'm not the person to be doing this film making thing because it's just not my thing and… Continue

Mr Malley your a great person, i had you more as my friend but i treated you with the respect that a teacher deserves, i respect you for what you do and for what you have done (south buffalo touch) :)... this class has help me to discover and learn more about my self and the things that i love doing, presenting my projects if you can tell all of them are about sports, is… Continue

For the next class

LIST OF TEN THINGS.

1.)
Blog posts are key in this class, and make sure they sound like you
2.)
you will most likely stay after at least once on a project
3.)
get ready to be okay with the way you sound, because this thing called a voice over will be used.
4.)
If you are not a fan of any of apples products, good luck being that way at the end of the year.
5.)
CAPITALIZE YOUR…

Were at the end.

Okay so I thought the last blog post a wrote was my last blog post. Guess not. It's time for my final reflection of Mass Media class, and I have nothing bad to say. I've gained so much from this class that I can use in the present and future. I learned how to use a new video program, I learned proper techniques in making a video, and that I should always be creative about it. Anyone can make a good movie if they put there effort and creativity into. It's just that simple. Mass Media isn't…

To the class of 2011,

1. If you don't think you can work well with a partner on the project, don't work with them, obviously.
2. Do your blog posts, they're easy, so just do them, plus it gives you more of a grade.
3. Bring Mr. Malley's camera and or tripods back, or he'll have a fit, haha jk, but no I'm serious.
4. Don't be afraid of Mr. Malley's weird faces, don't worry, it's normal.
5. Be creative, if you don't like your film, fix it until you yourself like…

Hey folks. If you're in the neighborhood, make sure you stop by Central Films on Facebook and "Like" our page. I'm trying to figure out where I want to upload your movies from this year after this Ning's video capabilities implode, but have yet to figure it out. I'll be in touch.
